My favourite destination is still Mauritius and after 9 times I am still not bored and I am a Beachcomber (Shandrani, Paradis, Le Vic, Le Cannonnier) and World Leisure Holiday (Sugar Beach/La Pirogue) fan and Club Med Albion really appealed to me. I visited these properties in Feb and August 2009.
I cannot wait for Beachcomber Trou Aux Biches to re-open at the end of 2010 and I depart again on 19th January 2010 to do site inspections at over 20 resorts in Mauritius…
In June 2009, Seychelles blew me away – and if you can afford a slightly more upmarket honeymoon or getaway, it’s the place to be. I fell in love with the Four Seasons, Paradise Sun and Beachcomber St Anne’s and I cannot wait to visit the new Constance Ephelia Resort.
My Med cruise in November 2009 was the highlight of my year – Barcelona is absolutely stunning, Rome is a must and then the cruise was awesome and it’s the most amazing way to see lots of different places in a short space of time without the hassle of packing up your suitcase every day. I am sold, especially with the shopping in Florence!!!
East Africa is special in many ways – unspoilt, unpretentious and the people are very friendly. Its quite an eye-opener. My Masai Mara is an experience in June 2008 will not easily be forgotten and then to finish that off with a trip to the Kenyan coastline of Mombasa (Leopard Beach Resort, Diani Beach or Voyager Beach Resort) or Malindi - the Plan Hotels - makes for a unique bush and beach experience and I cannot wait to go back there.
What can I say about Zanzibar…. been there twice and explored every nook and cranny and yes, I used to sell virtually every property on the island, but after a couple of years in the business and from experience, I have narrowed it down. You cannot go wrong with the Plan Hotels – my favourite of course is La Gemma and Neptune Pwani, but Dreams of Zanzibar and Mapenzi are also great options. Arabian Nights and Amaan Bungalows are affordable – both are ‘basic’ properties.
In the Maldives head for Club Med Kani, Bandos or Meeru and try and fit in a stop over in Dubai if you can.
Sakatia Lodge in Madagascar is most definitely our firm favourite with Iranja a close second - try and give the stop-over in Tana a miss.
The Far East holds a mystique for us and our clients are never disappointed and come back with the “wow’ factor and memories firmly entrenched… and it remains very affordable. Once again Club Med is an excellent choice if you want an all-inclusive package – but don’t miss out on Chaing Mai and the Phi Phi islands – and once again, try and make use of a stop over in Singapore or Hong Kong
At Vic Falls – most definitely the Vic Falls Safari Lodge and an add-on to Chobe if you have time and then please remember to pre-book your Ticket to Adventure before you depart as an elephant ride is a must!!!
Bungi-jumping, sorry but I am not that brave - I still prefer the Zim side as it has a better view of the falls…
South America – been there three times so what can I say… lived in the Caribbean for 9 months on a yacht so know it well.
America??? Give me Orlando and New York anytime.
UK – the shows in London are not to be missed and then its so easy to hire a car and explore up north – York and the Lake District hold very special memories for me and Ireland… I loved it.
Australia – I packed for Perth for a week but my highlight of my journey down under was most definitely New Zealand.
This year I am hoping to do a cruise in the Far East, head to Sakatia in Madagascar, Mauritius Beachcomber Le Cannonier in June, Zanzibar in July and if I am really lucky try and fit in the Maldives as well… what a wonderful life I have!
