If ever there was a destination to take a break, relax and revel in the beauty that came fully-equipped with powder white sands, crystal clear beaches and an infinite amount of happiness – Mauritius would be it and Trou Aux Biches would be the piece-de-resistance. As is rightly so, this phenomenal 5 Star Superior Resort is one of the exquisite properties offered by the luxury-inspired, service driven Beachcomber group.

Let me explain…After a short flight from Johannesburg and one of the quickest customs’ queues we’ve ever been through (December withstanding), we were whisked off in a shuttle provided by the resort to the beautifully sun-kissed west coast of Mauritius,  where Trou Aux Biches is situated. Famous for its soft beaches and breath-taking sunsets – we were completely thrilled to find the resort matched the exquisite scenery.

A festive greeting, some warm towels and a welcome drink later, we were checked into one of the Tropical Garden rooms complete with an outside shower and Garden Pool. Sporting 306 Suites and 27 Villas, Trou Aux Biches manages to offer everything from Junior Suites to Tropical Garden Suites to the incomparable  Beachfront Suites of varied capacities in order to better cater to the needs of their guests. No stone seems unturned in this resort with 6 restaurants, a teens club, complimentary land and w
ater sports; and of course, the necessary decadence – The 5 Star Spa.

As is customary – we have to start with the most important features of the resort : The Indian-Shower Spa treatment. Transferring me to a world of complete relaxation, this was truly a unique experience; an absolute highlight of my trip. But there was so much more – of the 6 incredible restaurants to choose from, the main restaurant offered a differt themed cuisine each night. Coupled with the Thai, Italian and Fusion restaurants – you will be hard-pressed to pine after any dietary wish that you may possess. True to the Mauritian culture, and in the spirit of island life, we were pleasantly surprised by the Fire Dancers adorning the beach at night – a welcomed aesthetic.

Fear not, as the nights are entertaining so the days are adventurous. There is a wide variety of complimentary non-motorised watersports and activity that the resort offers. Friendly and helpful  staff at the boathouse had us on daily snorkelling trips, water skiing, canoeing and paddle boats. They also offer glass bottom boat rides, stand up paddle and so much more. Don’t be surprised if you see a sea turtle in the bay, he is part of the Trou Aux biches family

Suffice it to say, after 7 nights and 8 days of Beachcomber/Trou Aux Biches paradise – we could not fathom why we had not extended our stay. But with an embarrassing amount of photographs and cherished memories, we bid our home away from home farewell and look forward to returning to this amazing place in the near future!

Much Mauritius love
